Part 3

softly now: distractifying

Dom gets tickets to see this indie band he really loves, and asks Orlando to come with him. It's the first time they really go out, out. They've been out of the house, of course, they've been to restaurants and such; but this is a whole new thing. It's also the first time Orlando will be going to a club since his accident, so he's a little anxious, but a lot excited that Dom wants him to go.

Orlando gets himself ready for the club, comes out into the living room, stops when he sees Dom. They're checking each other out, and Orlando says, "I like your bling," and touches one of the pieces on Dom's wrist. Dom says, "yeah?" and Orlando affirms with a smile. Dom kisses him; his hand lingers on Orlando's forearm, and when they part he says, "Can I doll you up a little?" And Orlando says yes, so Dom goes to get his box of bling. And when he's done, he stands back to survey his work. Looks at Orlando and says, "You're a sexy boy, you know that?" And Orlando grins, "I'm sex on wheels." And Dom laughs in agreement as much as appreciation, and kisses him again.

The music seems louder for its unfamiliarity, and of course they're up front. Front and to the side, out of everyone's way, and right by the speakers. Orlando watches Dom for a moment, gyrating and rapt; Orlando smiles, just watches Dom for a few moments before he reaches out and touches Dom's hip, and Dom turns and bends to him at once, puts his mouth to Orlando's ear and asks if he's okay. Orlando nods, motions that he's going outside. Dom's mouth to Orlando's ear again, "Want me to come with?", but Orlando shakes his head, smiles, he's good, he'll be right back. Dom smiles too and nods okay. Watches as Orlando maneuvers the chair around, watches him make his way out, tracks him by the parting crowd. Satisfied that Orlando's alright on his own, Dom turns back to the stage.

Outside, Orlando parks himself a little ways from the door. He's only been there a few seconds when someone says, "Hey man, got a light?"

"Sorry," Orlando says, "I don't smoke."

"That's alright." The young man regards the cigarette in his own fingers before tucking it into a back pocket with a grin. "I shouldn't, either. So you're just getting some fresh air?" He gestures at the air all around them, not necessarily fresh but certainly crisper than the club's, takes a deep inhale himself.

"Something like that," Orlando smiles.

The bouncer on the door interrupts with a word Orlando doesn't catch, probably the other boy's name since he turns just as a lighter is tossed his way.

The boy thanks the doorman, retrieves his cigarette again, flicks the flame to light up. "Or, do you mind?" he asks genuinely.

No, Orlando doesn't mind. "Nice shoes," the boy says as he lights up, gently toes Orlando's Vans with his own, a plain black skater pair with white accents, circular, almost cartoonish in design. Grins around his cigarette and Orlando smiles back, "you too," he acknowledges. They talk about how comfortable Vans are, "the thickest, fluffiest soles I've ever tread upon," and there's no irony or mockery in the other boy's tone.

So they get to talking while the boy smokes his clove, which Orlando recognizes from the scent, from the thicker smoke. The boy asks which band Orlando came to see. Orlando tentatively names one of the bands, and the boy grins, "Your girlfriend drag you here?", because it's obvious this isn't quite Orlando's thing.

Slight burn at his ears as Orlando says, "Boyfriend, actually."

"Sorry," the boy grins and takes a drag, "shouldn't have been so presumptuous." He finishes his cigarette, asks if Orlando is coming back inside. Orlando hesitates; says he wants to give his ears a little more of a break. "Oh, here!" the boy reaches into his pocket and pulls out a little plastic tube with a pair of neon yellow and pink earplugs. "I always bring extras," he explains with another grin as he gives them to Orlando, who accepts them with thanks.

"I'm Elijah, by the way," he says before they go in.

"Orlando."

"Orlando," Elijah repeats. "That's a great name!"

As they're going in, the bouncer and Elijah exchange familiar words. When they're past, Orlando comments that they know Elijah here, and Elijah explains, "Yeah, I spin here sometimes." Casual about it, nothing studied in the casualness. They head back to the floor; Elijah wants to go over to the bar, asks if Orlando wants anything, and Orlando thanks him but declines. Says he's going to go look for his friend. Elijah nods, "see you around" and Orlando says, "yeah, nice meeting you."

He goes back up front, finds Dom right where he left him; Dom glances over from the stage and turns fully when he sees Orlando coming. Leans down when Orlando gets there and asks if he's alright. Orlando nods and smiles. Dom asks if he's having a good time, if he wants to stay, he's leaning down and his hand drops to touch Orlando's thigh. It's a lovely, intimate gesture, but Orlando knows Dom is actually feeling to see if he's spasming; and that makes the gesture even more lovely.

Orlando says he's having a really good time. He's all smiles, and that makes Dom smile too. They're smiling at each other, and their faces are close but not too close, not close like that, and Dom says, "Can I kiss you, Orli?" and Orlando smiles "yeah." Dom leans in closer, close like that, kisses Orlando openmouthed, and they're just kissing with parted lips at first; and when Orlando's tongue slips inside Dom's mouth, Dom's fingers skim over Orlando's thigh to find Orlando's hand, up to his wrist, to the cuff he'd adorned Orlando with, one finger slipping under, rubbing between skin and leather.

Orlando presses into the kiss more in response, and Dom welcomes him. His finger slips from beneath the cuff now, trails down to Orlando's hand, finds it curled and worms inside the curl and - touches plastic. Dom breaks the kiss to look down curious, and Orlando looks down too, opens his hand: "Oh yeah," he says when Dom, still curious, looks at him. "I met this guy outside, he gave me these."

Dom looks down at the earplugs again, then back to Orlando and he grins, "Thought you were enjoying yourself!"

Orlando starts to protest that he is, but Dom just kisses him again, lightly again, just enough to hush him.

Dom encourages Orlando to put in the earplugs, and then when Orlando does, Dom says that since Orlando is cutting down on the aural stimulus, he will need more to look at. Starts dancing for him, at him. Hips swiveling, and soon his whole self is gyrating. And he's letting his hands wander up under his shirt: teasing Orlando with little bellyflashes just for him.

And then a song that Dom has played for Orlando comes on, and Dom moves closer, hands on the arms of Orlando's wheelchair, leaning close again. "Come on, you know this one!" Coaxing Orlando to sing with him. And Orlando does, a little shyly at first, but then he really gets into it. And Dom's still dancing, slower now. It's like he's almost lapdancing Orlando. But he's not, he's still standing. And Orlando gets caught up in this slower sway, lets himself sway a little too. And they're out of rhythm with the music, but completely in rhythm with each other.

And this is what Elijah, who has now made his way to the front, sees. He just watches them for the remainder of the song. Dom and Orlando aren't really singing anymore: their mouths are parted, little flashes of tongues, touching their own lips, curlflicking back inside their own mouths. And it seems to Elijah that they are kissing. Just with more space between them: they're kissing without touching, just like they were dancing, dancefucking without touching... but somehow; somehow, Elijah thinks, they're feeling it.

Elijah watches them through the end of that song, and as the next song starts, he drifts over, all casual, and then: "Oh hey, hi again! Orlando, right?"

So Orlando introduces them, explains to Dom that this is the guy who gave him the earplugs, and "This is my friend Dom." Elijah nods at Dom's Franz Ferdinand shirt, asks if he caught them when they played a couple weeks ago. So they get to talking, and Dom is touching Orlando a lot, unconsciously, just stroking his hair or his neck like it's the most natural thing.

The set ends, and Elijah asks if they're staying for the last band, which is a local band, not the headliners. Dom looks to Orlando, to see how Orlando is holding up, and Orlando gives him an 'up to you!' look. And in this pause where they're not answering right away, Elijah says, "Because if you want, we can go hang out with the band." And Dom's like, "Really?" And Elijah nods, "Sure, I know the club owner. He's here tonight, so I can probably get us back there."

They go around back, outside the backstage entrance, Elijah gone in ahead with promises to come back out, and Orlando knows he's saying something to the band about the boy in the wheelchair but he doesn't care this time; this time, he'll play that card if he has to because Dom is vibrating, he's radiating with vibration just at the thought of going back and meeting the band, and Orlando wants to keep basking in the glow coming off him.

Orlando doesn't look at Dom's face, because if he does Dom will look at him; and Orlando loves when they look at each other, but right now he doesn't want to distract Dom from his joy, he just wants to be a part of it without altering it, becoming a focal point; he just wants Dom to have his joy. So Orlando looks down at Dom's feet, Dom's shiny blue shoes, his toes curling visibly inside them, beneath the malleable vinyl; toes flattening out again and stretching, supporting Dom's entire weight as he goes up on the balls of his feet, comes back down, bounces up again. The blacktop beneath Dom's feet is shiny too, the surfaces all around them are rainslick, and the rain had stopped but it's starting again, a cool fat drop has caught Orlando almost in the eye, fragmented wetly through his lashes and dragged them down to his skin in a blink.

A raindrop must have caught Dom too, or else he was looking at Orlando anyhow and he saw the drop that caught Orlando. Because Dom bounces around behind Orlando's chair, still humming one of the songs from tonight, and Orlando can hear the rustling and crinkling and whoosh-uncrinkling as Dom pulls out the rain poncho, and Orlando shivers just a little at the cold touch of the material as Dom drapes it round him, sorts out the edges so Orlando and the chair are protected. Orlando begins to do up the snaps in front himself, starting at the bottom and working up. Feels the hood come up, brushing over his hair in a rustling whisper, and then Dom's hands slip down from the hood, slip inside the poncho at mid-chest, crossing each other and sliding along to Orlando's arms, and Orlando shivers again at the touch of Dom's cool fingers. Starts to turn his head but Dom's curving over him, coming curved over and Orlando arches his neck straight back and the hood falls and their eyes meet and they archcurve a little more and their mouths meet, imperfectly, upper lips clinging upside-down to each other and Dom's breath is so much warmer than the night air, his tongue wet and so much hotter, softer and more precise than the raindrops...

And it seems to Orlando that he heard the door open a good few seconds before he hears Elijah say "hey" and they're invited in.

Elijah holds the door open and Orlando wheels forward, lightly bumps the side of the door frame, backs up a little and Dom's right there behind him but he doesn't take the handles, lets Orlando give it another try and he does scrape a little, but he gets himself inside.

He goes in far enough that they can all fit out of the rain, and then he stops to let Dom help him off with the poncho. Elijah and Dom start talking music, and Orlando listens attentively not so much to what they're saying as to Dom's inflection, especially in response; memorizes the names that get the best inhales, the most enthusiastic "yeah, yeah!"s.

Dom's stuffed the poncho back into its pouch and surreptitiously checked Orlando's leg bag, smiles at Orlando as he straightens up and Orlando mouths, 'do we have to change it?' and Dom gives him a small headshake, "you're good" he whispers. Elijah's expounding on some band called Ours, or maybe he's just going on about the lead singer, Orlando will look them up tomorrow, and Dom is smiling and he kisses Orlando and finishes straightening up and "yeah, yeah!"s Elijah and they start down the not-too-narrow corridor and Orlando wonders if he has a 'soft-on' as Dom sometimes calls Orlando's semi-erections.

At the end of the not-too-narrow corridor is a small set of steps leading down. Orlando stops before he reaches them; he hears Dom break off behind him, but before either of them can or has to say anything, Elijah's hand is on Orlando's shoulder. "It's cool, man," he says, flashes Orlando a grin as he pats the shoulder and squeezes past, "we got you covered."

He disappears down the little stairs, and when he's gone Orlando turns his head and says, "It's okay," and smiles at Dom. And Dom knows it's not okay, knows Orlando hates being carried in his chair and would sometimes rather not do something he'd wanted to do than have to be carried. And this isn't even something Orlando wanted to do; this is all about Dom.

"We can go," Dom says, smiles like he means it. "I don't mind."

"Shut up," Orlando laughs, and Dom has this little flash - that it is, yeah, all about him, and that's why Orlando's grinning like that, and how ungrateful would Dom be to not have a good time when that's all Orlando wants - and yeah, that really is what Orlando wants, isn't it? It's not all about Dom, after all. And Dom kisses Orlando laughing, feels Orlando's lips still vibrating with laughter against his own, feels Orlando's vibrating tongue flick against him.

Then Elijah's coming back up the little steps, and there's this big guy with him. "This is Sala," Elijah says, and introduces them. "Should I come back there and help you?" he asks Dom, but Dom says he has it. "Okay!" Elijah smiles. And they all sit there for a moment. Then: "Oh!" Elijah says, looks around himself, "I guess I'm in the way." Grins and he goes back down the stairs, and Orlando shows Sala where to grab onto the chair. Little lurch and bob down the stairs, but Sala is really strong and it's smoother than it could have been, and Orlando thanks him when they set him down. Feels Dom's hand in his hair, brushing the back of his neck.

Elijah pops his head around the corner and waves them in, and Dom comes to stand beside him when they're inside the back room, hand to the back of Orlando's neck again.

Elijah offers them drinks (beer for Dom, water for Orlando), and Dom's looking around and starting to glow again, and Orlando's mostly just looking at Dom and he's starting to glow too, and he rests his hands in his lap, presses against his thigh to stop the twitching before Dom notices it.

"Hey, Elijah," a soft voice drawls, and they all turn. "Who are your friends?" And even his smile seems a soft drawl, the kind that would make you smile even when your leg is trying to spasm; the kind that would make you smile even if you weren't feeling your friend's glow and bounce beside you.

"Johnny!" Elijah wraps him in a hug, is wrapped back; unwrap, a casual arm still around each other's back, and Elijah introduces Dom and Orlando to Johnny Depp. Dom's hand finds Orlando's nape again, his hand cool and damp from the bottle's perspiration. He'd recognized Johnny right away, and his thumb is doing that excited swirling thing on the back of Orlando's neck, rubbing excited little circles on Orlando's skin as Dom tries to sound cool while saying hello. And then he breaks into a huge grin, just starts enthusing to Johnny about Donnie Brasco. Tells Johnny how much he loves that film and how great Johnny was, how he should have been nominated for an Oscar. And Johnny just grins and says, "Fuggeddabout it," and Dom feels like a fangirl. He manages not to do anything out loud, but Orlando can feel, from Dom's thumb on his neck, how thrilled Dom is. After Johnny moves on, Dom turns to him and says, "That was Johnny Depp!" and Orlando grins and says, "I know." And Dom says, "We just met Johnny Depp!" and Orlando grins more and says, "Yeah, I know; I was there." And Dom just looks at him all agrin and aglow, and he doesn't say anything right away; and then he says, "Johnny Depp!" And Orlando laughs, and Dom kisses him. Orlando thinks it's just going to be one of those "hush, you!" kisses. But Dom is really kissing him, and then he makes this soft little happy growly sound while they're kissing, and that triggers Orlando to sort of whimper into the kiss... And when they part, Dom asks how Orlando is doing, and Orlando says he's good, and Dom says that's good, because he really wants to fuck Orlando when they get home tonight...

Dom is in full on bliss, and Orlando's actually having a good time too. And of course, his good time is made so much better by how happy Dom is. He wouldn't trade it or miss it for anything, seeing Dom in his natural habitat like this. Not even when he starts to spasm again, worse...

So he doesn't say anything to Dom, and he's trying to get his meds without Dom noticing. It's not really bad yet, but still. Then Elijah, who is standing nearby, turns to Orlando and says quietly, "Hey, you alright?" Which catches Dom's attention. He'd been talking with someone from the band, but he turns and sees what the story is at once. He says they should go, but Orlando says no, he's okay; he wants to stay. Dom and Elijah are both expressing concern, even though Elijah doesn't really know what's going on, physically, with Orlando. "I don't want to pry, but -" And Orlando says really, he's fine; it's just been a long night in the chair, and Dom says that's why they should go.

Meanwhile, Johnny - ever the good and attentive host - has noticed that something is up. So he comes over in time to hear the last bit and he asks if it would help if Orlando got out of the chair. There's a sofa in the room. Now, this would mean Orlando being set on the sofa, and Dom knows Orlando doesn't like special treatment and all that. So he's about to say that they're just going to go - but Orlando says, "yeah, I think that would help," and he smiles at Dom. And Dom is just - he knows Orlando is doing this so Dom can stay and keep talking with these people, and he doesn't know how to express his gratitude, his more than gratitude to Orlando. So he just takes his hand, gives it a little squeeze, and Orlando squeezes back.

Johnny clears off the sofa for them, and everyone is really cool about it, no one makes a big deal. Orlando gets himself onto the sofa; Dom really wants to help him, but he knows it's important to Orlando to do things for himself. He's standing right there, ready to jump in if Orlando needs him, but Orlando manages it. Elijah and Johnny are there too. Once Orlando is situated comfortably, propped up with cushions and able to stretch out, Johnny goes back to mingling and circulating, and Elijah stays. Dom sits on the edge of the sofa, giving Orlando a discreet little massage. Elijah watches for a moment, then asks if he can do anything, and Orlando asks for some water so he can take his meds. So Elijah goes to get a bottle for him.

Orlando eases under Dom's ministrations, a little more when the meds kick in, and he encourages Dom to go and have fun. But Dom wants to stay with him. At first Dom perches himself on the arm of the sofa by Orlando's head, stroking his hair. And then people come over to talk - probably Johnny is nudging people to go over, so the boys don't feel weird and ostracized. The bass player asks if Dom wants to go smoke a little weed with them, maybe do some X. And Dom gets a flash of excitement; then tamps it down. Says he'd love to, but he's the designated driver. But Orlando felt the flash and says, "No, you should go," because he would not deny Dom getting high with the band. And Elijah adds that he'll drive them home, if Dom wants to go. Dom asks if Elijah's comfortable driving a van, and Elijah says sure, he drives bands and their equipment around sometimes. Then Dom starts to ask if it's really okay, but Orlando grins, "Go!" and Dom grins back, "Okay!" and does. So Dom goes, and Elijah stays with Orlando.

Dom sits on the floor by Orlando when he comes back, and now it's Orlando's turn to stroke his hair. Dom's turned towards Orlando, and he takes Orlando's hand. He's giddy, high and giddy with the night, and it grounds him to touch Orlando, gives him an excuse to touch Orlando too. His fingers are wandering over Orlando's skin, crossing bling to get to more skin, and that's when he sets to work on the wristband. When they were getting ready for the club, Dom put all manner of bling on Orlando's wrists. When they got to the club, there was no room for the guy at the door to put the wristband for tonight's show on Orlando's wrist, so he wound up putting it on just below Orlando's elbow. Now, Dom takes the cuff and other bling off Orlando in order to slide down the wristband from tonight. He's trying to work it off Orlando, trying to fold Orlando's hand in so he can get the wristband off. Johnny's standing nearby, and this catches his eye. He comes over and says he can just give Dom another wristband from tonight, give him as many as Dom wants. But, "I want his," Dom says, grins and doggedly keeps at it for a bit. It's obvious he's not going to succeed, but he won't be dissuaded - until Orlando distracts him with a kiss...

Elijah's driving and Dom's in the passenger seat, and Orlando's in his chair in back. Dom twists around and he's still so excited about the whole night, he starts talking to Orlando about it, "we met Johnny Depp!", "we partied with the band!", that sort of thing. And Orlando's just grinning and letting Dom go on, encouraging him a bit, and Dom's gesturing, very animated, doing imitations of the band getting high.

And while he's gesturing, he reaches back and touches Orlando's knee. It's incidental at first. But then he starts caressing. And Orlando touches Dom's hand so he can share the touch, can feel it. Dom understands, and he wants to touch Orlando more, so he unstraps his seat belt and just crawls back over and between the seats to Orlando. Kneels, adjusts the footrests of the wheelchair, fumbling a little but he's still pretty dexterous, so he can be between Orlando's legs. Smiles up and reaches in and undoes Orlando's trousers. Orlando protests, just says his name; but Dom only smiles and takes Orlando's cock out and starts petting it. Orlando says he thinks they should wait until they're home, but Dom puts his hand up to Orlando's mouth to hush him, and leans down and kisses Orlando's cock.

Orlando's caught between embarrassment and arousal, because Dom starts making these happy little sex sounds, noisy little sucking sounds and hums. Orlando apologizes to Elijah, and Elijah glances back at him in the rearview mirror: "Hey man," Elijah says, "you never have to apologize for a blowjob!" Gives Orlando a grin where Orlando was expecting a wink, and somehow that feels sincere. Sets Orlando at ease, and he lets himself relax, lets his hands rest on Dom's head; lets Dom enjoy him, lets himself enjoy Dom's enjoyment.

A little after Dom starts sucking Orlando, Orlando has to stop him because he's worried about the, you know, control problem. And Dom says he doesn't care, he just wants Orlando: "Want you, Orli, just want you, want you so much...", knelt up and leaning up to kiss Orlando hot and sweet, starts begging in soft murmurs, soft kisses. And Orlando, he wants Dom too, he loves it when Dom is like this - but...

And then Dom whispers that he brought the catheter tube, "please, Orli, please..."

And Orlando looks at Dom looking at him, and he just can't say no to Dom's desire, just can't say no to Dom...

And Dom smiles and twists around, still kneeling, and leans into the front to touch Elijah's shoulder, asks Elijah to pull over.

When they're at a stop, Orlando starts to cath and Dom stretches out on his back, eyes closed, humming softly, touching himself in anticipation. And Orlando's emotionally turned on, and there's still the strangeness of Elijah being there, and so he's having a little more trouble than usual. He glances up and Dom's sort of squirming languidly on the floor, and he looks so gorgeous Orlando doesn't want to ruin the mood. He looks up to the front, sees Elijah's eyes slide from Dom to him in the rearview mirror; and he doesn't blame Elijah for watching Dom, 'cos Dom's so gorgeous right now.

Elijah smiles and Orlando smiles, and then Elijah can see Orlando wants to say something so he twists in his seat to look at Orlando directly, and Orlando says, "Could you," and then trails into a sigh, because he doesn't feel right about asking this of Elijah. But Elijah gets it, asks if Orlando wants some help. "Yeah," Orlando says, "would you mind?"

"'Course not!" Elijah says, grins, so genuine it sets Orlando at ease again. Elijah unstraps himself, comes back and lets Orlando show him how to help. Orlando apologizes, says he can usually do it himself - his eyes slide to Dom, writhing lazily on the floor, hand down his trousers. "He's kinda distractifying, isn't he?" Elijah grins, having followed Orlando's gaze over, and back; Orlando sighsmiles, and Elijah starts to work the tube in.

It's a mood killer, Orlando is thinking to himself - but then he looks over at Dom, whose eyes are open now, looking at him... and the mood isn't ruined at all.

Dom sits up then, watches; crawls over when they're done and says, "Alright?" to Orlando. Orlando says yeah, and Dom smiles, goes down on him smiling. Orlando's hands are in his hair and he looks up at Elijah and mouths thank you, and Elijah just grins and nods and goes back to the front, starts them off again.

Dom's sucking and suckling, and Orlando's petting him, gazing down at him and sometimes closing his eyes just to hear Dom's little sex sounds; and Elijah's slowed the car just a little, to give a smoother safer ride, risking looks; wants to risk touching himself, but he doesn't.

And then Dom takes his mouth from Orlando's cock, and brushes his cheek against it and moans tenderly, "So soft... so soft...," his voice low, full and heavy. Orlando brushes the pad of his thumb across the swell of Dom's lips, and Dom lets out a small sound from the back of his throat, licks Orlando's thumb and turns to take his cock again.

Dom's sucking Orlando's cock, and he lifts his head to tell Orlando how he loves Orlando's cock, loves sucking it; wants to suck Orlando's balls too. Heel of his hand pressed against them, he's slipped a little sideways as he kneels between Orlando's legs, his arm on Orlando's thigh, bent at the elbow, head resting against his hand, smiling up at Orlando while he tries to fondle Orlando's scrotum through his clothing. "Can I when we get home?" Dom asks. "Can I pull your pants down past your knees and suck your balls a little bit? And if you're not too tired, maybe, we can put your legs over my shoulders and I'll go down a little more, lick your arsehole if you want..."

And there's a slight swerve, Dom doesn't notice it at all and Orlando barely notices, thinks it's nothing, doesn't think about it; certainly doesn't think it was Elijah letting go of the wheel with one hand to undo his jeans, put his hand inside them and squeeze...

Dom's sucking Orlando, not sucking him off but just sucking on him, and Orlando reaches down and touches his face. He can't feel Dom with his cock, but with his fingers he can feel Dom sucking, he can feel the movement of Dom's jaw. He touches Dom's face to feel; and after a moment, Dom opens wider, lifts his hand and guides Orlando's finger into his mouth alongside Orlando's cock. Keeps sucking, and they're looking at each other, and Orlando says quietly, "I want to spread my legs for you." 'Cos he can't do that, he can't move his legs on his own.

Dom looks up at him. Mouth still on Orlando but he's not sucking, he's not moving, he's just gazing up at Orlando and listening to him. Listening to Orlando tell him how he wants Dom to fuck him, wants it so much, (Orlando slips his finger out of Dom's mouth, touches his face wetly), wants Dom to come. And Dom comes up to Orlando, puts Orlando's legs together and straddles him, rests his knees against the seat of the chair and he's not exactly sitting in Orlando's lap because the chair won't allow for that, but he's there with Orlando, Orlando's hands on his hips helping to support him as Dom holds onto the back of Orlando's chair. And Orlando's still talking about it, Dom fucking him, and Dom's just looking into Orlando's face, he's breathing a little harder, and Elijah can tell, he can see it and hear it and feel it, that Orlando is doing this for Dom, that this is part of how they make love, with words as much as with the physical. Orlando's describing it to Dom, for him and Dom, how Dom is sliding in and out, and how Dom wants to bury himself in Orlando when he's close but instead he pulls out and spills onto Orlando as he comes in his own hand, so Orlando can taste him. And Orlando barely gets the last few words out before Dom's tongue in his mouth, they're kissing wet and rhythmic and sloppy-loud, and Elijah has no doubt they are tongue-fucking, they are making love with their mouths; this is sex for them. Kissing is sex.

When Elijah parks and gets out to come around back, Orlando eases Dom off of him, tells Dom they're here, home now. "Want to suck you," Dom murmurs.

"Okay," Orlando smiles. "We'll just go inside now, yeah?"

Dom nods his consent. "Want to suck you, Orli. Want to suck you and fuck you all night," kisses Orlando's cock through his trousers, Orlando having done himself up while they were talking.

Then the back door of the van opens and Dom climbs out to show Elijah how to work the motorized lift, and with a little extra instruction from Orlando they manage it. Elijah goes in with them, helps Dom into the bedroom, Dom collapses on bed. Reaches for Orlando's hand, "c'mere now!", and Orlando says he'll be right there, he's just going to see Elijah out.

In the living room, Orlando thanks Elijah, and Elijah says, "Oh, it was my pleasure!" Then Orlando asks how Elijah's going to get back, and Elijah takes out his mobile, says he'll call a cab, no problem. It's very late, so late it's early, and it's starting to show on all their faces and in their voices, not just Dom's. Orlando tells Elijah he's welcome to the couch, if he wants it, and Dom can drive him back to his car in the morning. Or afternoon, as the case may be. Little grin. Elijah hesitates, and then says yeah, if Orlando's sure. And Orlando is. He tells Elijah where there are spare pillows and blankets, Elijah thanks him; they say good night, and Orlando goes back into the bedroom.

And finds Dom completely unconscious.

Orlando smiles fondly, lifts himself into bed beside him, takes Dom's hand in his, just a twitch as Dom's fingers curl closer round Orlando's.

"Sweet but lush," oh, I really like that... that's them, isn't it? The way they are with and the way they feel about each other. Thank you very much, I'm so happy you're enjoying it!

And Ours, yes! My roommate is a real music geek and seems to have similar taste to Elijah, so that was my little tribute to her. :)

My sister turned me onto Ours a couple of years ago - I find it a fantastic soundtrack when I'm feeling down. I actually have written two parts of a song-fic trilogy using their music. I only mention it because the first one was inspired by part of your Wrong to Love You series, and I've always wanted to say thank you and to let you know how much I enjoyed it.

poly rock

i love the way you describe the give and take of their exchanges and how you worked in other "characters", which for some reason i wasnt expecting. you reinterpret the things that caught me about the whole lotr shebang in this rose-colored prism of how the world should be and maybe, just maybe is...

Re: poly rock

*furry fist of fury!*

I just spent about half an hour composing a reply to you, and LJ swallowed it, leaving nary a crumb. I shall try to recreate it now.

i love the way you describe the give and take of their exchanges

I hadn't thought about it consciously before, but that's a lot of what this (their) story is about, both of them learning to accept the give of the other; they both get such pleasure from giving themselves, that sometimes it's hard for them to take as well.

and how you worked in other "characters"

Something that I wanted to do with this story was to bring them into the world after establishing their relationship. I don't know if it feels this way to you too, but I feel like this story has the same emotional quality (though not the same exact emotions) as WTLY - that intensity and insularity, where they and their emotions become the entire world. I wanted to try something different here, and decided to try to show them from the outside in glimpses through someone else's (Elijah's) eyes. But I think you can already see here that even as Elijah observes them from the outside, he's also falling in himself... or perhaps I've said too much.

the whole lotr shebang in this rose-colored prism of how the world should be and maybe, just maybe is...

Re: swim big

as for your ambitions with your story i think you are spot on. it is like the inocence of first love with no sight of that heart ache - they are infectious, their own solar system. yeah it is the inverse of WTLY - the other side of the coin - and what is amazing about it is it could be so sappy but somehow the way you write it - it isnt. i loved elijah being the reader's pov in a way - it is like when you see something really beautiful you realize that is the way the world could be and because it exists it is the way the world is - it makes you raises your expectations. it is a big departure from what you have written before - which is what intrigues me because it is all set up for angst and heartache (orli's physical condition) but you have to much integrity to fall into that trap and treat your men with such dignity (as they should be) - it reminds me of the way you wrote legolas in "handfull of days" before boromir's fall in that sense. it is hard to sustain that type of openness to life and it is so essential. i really really love WTLY - it will always be my first love of fanfiction - the one i can quote at will - and i so long for it to continue...

there is a cd i made for you and on it is this song by polyrock called "romantic me" and i dont know how but i think when you hear it you will understand why sometimes i think orlando waiting for dom before things started hummed it in his bed and them escaped the angst of love to (your phrase) full on bliss...

ps do you know the band lali puna? there is a song of theirs that makes me think of this too...

Oh, I remember the series! I read the first two parts when you first posted them and I still like them just as much.

I adore the tenderness and care between them, the small gestures and smiles that tell so much about what they feel. There's a certain softness about your writing, how you wrap your words around the characters. It could become stiffling like out-of-control ivy very easily, but with your writing it always feels more like protection.

This was the incoherant, rambling version of "I like this series very much".

Not incoherent at all! Or perhaps incoherent in the best possible sense, in a way that means a lot to me. I love that, wrapping the words around the characters as protection, especially because I think it echoes what the boys are doing in the story with their emotions - and now that I really think about it, with words as well (since they use words as sex).

Thank you very much!

it's so hard to put into words what i think of this. i love it, of course, but i feel weird rejoicing too much. maybe because it's not something i'd ever wish on somebody? i don't know, but this is gorgeous and i keep tearing up.

and when i read So they get to talking while the boy smokes his clove and realized who it was, i gasped audibly and gave an inner cheer.

i'll wait patiently but with excitement for the next part.

I understand how you feel; it was strange to start writing it! The idea came from a challenge [info]beccaming told me about - what if Orlando didn't recover from that fall he took - and I was horrified at first. But then I started thinking about how it could be done with honesty and sensitivity, and challenged myself to give it a go. So I can't tell you how much it means to me, really, to hear that it's touched you.

and when i read So they get to talking while the boy smokes his clove and realized who it was, i gasped audibly and gave an inner cheer.

Hurray! This is probably my favorite chapter in the story, although there are others with more emotional intensity and more involved sex, because I had so much fun writing Elijah in. He became an integral part of their story, as I hope you'll see. Which reminds me that I should start working on chapter 5 again, since my goal was to have the entire thing done by December 1st... maybe I'll shoot for January 1st now. ;)

Thank you very much for reading and taking the time to reply!

Thank you very much! There will definitely be more; I have the rough draft for the rest of it (2 or 3 more parts), so it's just a matter of sitting myself down and actually finishing it.

Thanks again for reading and taking the time to respond.
